Job Brief

A private University in Nigeria Joseph Ayo Babalola located in Osun State. In line with its motto “For knowledge and Godly Service,” staff at the university must not only be the best brains in their specialities but also be Holy Spirit-filled. Candidates should be prepared to act in loco parentis to their students and present themselves as good role models for effective character training students placed in their care. The bursar is the chief financial officer and adviser of the university. Therefore he or she is responsible to the vice chancellor.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Keep an eye on the income and expenditure of the budget
  • Presenting the report to the vice chancellor
  • Maintain analysis of cost
  • Keep the account of the university
  • Preparing statements of financial activities
  • Preparing the balance sheet
  • Examine and pass for payment and invoice
  • Advice for taxation procedure
  • Keep an eye on statical records
  • Arrange special appeals for capital projects

Requirement

  • Proven work experience as a Bursar
  • Strong financial organization skills
  • Good computer skills
  •  Strong cash flow management.
  • Good knowledge of budget preparation
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Accounting procedures and best practices
  • Applicants must not be 60 years of age at the time of appointment

Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a good honours degree in accounting or related disciplines
  • Must be a member of any of the following bodies ACA, ACCA, ICAN, CPA, ACMA, and ANAN
  • Candidates should have at least 15 years post honours degree experience in a university or comparative institution
  • 5 years must be as a deputy bursar in a private university

Terms of Appointment

  • Appointment is for five years, effective from the date of appointment
  • The salary applies to what currently operates in Nigerian Universities in line with the federal government’s consolidated tertiary institution salary structure for non-teaching staff.
