Position: Biosafety Officer

Job Brief

The Kano Independent Research Centre Trust currently needs a highly competent and experienced Biosafety Officer to manage the BSL3 laboratory safety protocols. The job holder will ensure compliance with all biosafety and biosecurity standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Create and implement biosafety programs
• Train staff on biosafety procedures
• Coordinate the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials
• Monitor laboratory operations
• Ensure staff adhere to all safety policy
• Conduct risk assessments from time to time
• Ensure compliance with international and national  biosafety policy

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a laboratory system
• Strong knowledge of a BSL3 facility
• Knowledge of biosafety standards
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Relevant certification in biosafety
• Ability to work within a team

Qualification

• BSc in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology or any related fields
